This is not your typical career topic, for sure. And yet, it’s probably the area that is most directly tied to not only to your level of success, but also having the quality of life you want.
Your emotional health is incredibly important. It drives every action you take. How you show up to others. The quality of work you deliver. Your level of productivity. Your happiness or satisfaction. The quality of your relationships. And so much more.
In this episode, we also talk about a tool called The Mood Elevator. It’s a helpful way of understanding whether your current mood is one that will serve you or not.
Interestingly, most of us believe that how we feel is about what’s happening. We think the things outside us cause how we feel. But the truth is how we feel is always about how we’re thinking about the things that are happening around us. Not by the happenings themselves.
And this is great news. Because it means that taking charge of your feelings is entirely within your control. It’s about understanding the types of things that trigger you emotionally and the thoughts behind them. And then it’s about choosing new thoughts you want to think instead. Thoughts that will better serve you and help you feel the more productive emotions that will support the results you want to get.
